SPRING NEWSLETTER 2025

Dear Friends of Elmwood,
Waterloo Elmwood Cemetery continues to provide a beautiful, peaceful resting place for our families and friends. Your cemetery maintenance staff, board, and manager are always here to provide the long-term planning and daily care of this special space. It’s our privilege. Thank you!
MEMORIAL DAY
If you visit Elmwood this Memorial Day weekend you will, as usual, find a beautiful cemetery full of flags. Scout Troop 144 will once again be placing hundreds of American flags at the graves of our veterans. Due to the previous work of the Cedar Falls chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, we have nearly doubled the number of graves identified as veterans. Thank you to all our veterans! Thank you to the Scouts of Troop 144 for their longstanding help! Thank YOU for the donations you make to keep traditions alive in your cemetery! The memories we keep are precious.

NEW INFORMATION KIOSK… coming
We continue to receive positive comments about the beautiful, clean look of our new entry space. Now, an informational kiosk is in the works. This will house a map of the cemetery displaying the location of each section to hopefully make your visit to the cemetery easier and more enjoyable. There will also be a QR code you can scan to take you directly to the cemetery website (see article below). And, by the way, you can still make a contribution to your Waterloo Elmwood Cemetery as a memorial to a loved one. Your contribution could be a plaque beneath one of the illuminated flagpoles in our entry or for another beautiful tree. We again give a heartfelt “Thank You!” to the Kieber family for the beautiful bench in the entryway and to the Mary Ann Miller family for a memorial contribution toward a flagpole. Your gifts make our cemetery better and better!

A NEW WEBSITE … being developed now
Our website needs an upgrade and we are responding to that need. We’ve partnered with a local website developer to help us with a new, fresh look. The new website will include a history of Waterloo Elmwood Cemetery, a full listing of burials in the cemetery including section and lot number, a map of the cemetery, the newest news from your cemetery, up-to-date information of burial options, ways you can contribute to your Elmwood cemetery, and pictures throughout the seasons.

CEMETERY SECTION SIGNAGE… coming soon
You asked for it, we listened, and we’re working on it. We will be adding signage to each of the nine sections of Waterloo Elmwood Cemetery this year. The signs will help you know where you are in the cemetery and if you’re where you should be. If you’ve scanned the QR code on the entry kiosk or simply gone to the new website, you will know the section locations of your loved ones. Hopefully, the added signage will make your quest all the easier. We hope so.

PLEASE CONSIDER CREATING A MEMORIAL FOR A LOVED ONE!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THE PAST!
YOUR GENEROUS GIFTS MAKE ALL OF THIS POSSIBLE!
AND THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ANOTHER GIFT THIS YEAR! http://WaterlooElmwoodCemetery.org
